ANZ has a long and proud reputation of getting in behind Kiwis from all walks of life, both as a bank and as a sponsor in the community. When they took over sponsorship of New Zealand's Olympic team, they knew that Kiwis from all over the country would be keen to share in the spirit of the Games and show their support.
A classic London double-decker bus was painted blue and transformed into an Olympic experience, before embarking on a tour from the top of the North Island to the bottom of the South, visiting schools, town centres and ANZ branches. Each evening the ANZ Double-Decker parked up outside a local sports club, hosting a well-known Olympians in conversation with a top broadcaster.
Sputnik planned and managed each event and media coverage at each stop to make the biggest splash possible in each local community. The campaign resulted in thousands of Kiwis getting the opportunity to connect with the country's Olympic heroes, whilst simultaneously building strong support for the New Zealand team in London 2012. The reach of the tour, and awareness of ANZ’s sponsorship, was increased substantially via the 207 pieces of media coverage that ran in national and regional media outlets, across TV, online, radio and print publications.
